Back in high school, Andrea definitely doodled all over her notebooks as well as every margin of her class notes. However, it never occurred to her to pursue drawing or painting. She was not an artist, just a doodler… She was much more interested in studying poetry, literature, and creative writing as part of her formal education.
After college she loved seeing the master works of famous artists in museums, marveling over the diversity of technique, color and feeling in each work. Art was something to be entranced by, enjoyed and maybe one day purchased (most likely as a print).
As a homeowner, Andrea soon realized her deep love for color and decorating with lots of it. She couldn’t have enough color on the walls, colorful paintings, bright fabrics and tons of throw pillows, all with different prints.
With the birth of her son on the horizon, she wanted to make his room as extra-specially beautiful as possible. She selected the theme of “day at the beach” but was quickly disappointed to find a lack of affordable artwork to meet her needs.
On a mission and a strict budget, she purchased a couple of blank wrapped canvases and a child’s $1.99 set of acrylic paints, the ones in the tiny clear plastic cylinders, and set to work. This is what she came up with:

She was temporarily satisfied with the paintings, thinking she could always replace them later. The shock came as people coming to see the nursery enthusiastically complimented the pieces!
Andrea looked at them critically and thought “I can do much better than that…” Combining that mindset along with her overwhelming desire to find a way to afford to stay home with her son, she created KinderDoodles, LLC and has been happily doodling ever since.
